Hello, I am Lucas
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually opened up a new chapter of my life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't in the cards for our long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The early months were challenging — adjusting to new systems, new routines, and new expectations. Daily tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built SilverBrookNest
Much of the information online sat at corporate relocation levels or offered only shallow tourism tips. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.

This site is:

- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored-review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
